My oldest son, David, turned thirteen yesterday. So hard to believe just how fast they grow up. What a great kid he has turned out to be. His favorite things are Boy Scouts and 4-H RC Car Club. He is not really into sports that much so I am glad he has found a hobby to keep himself occupied.
It is scary to watch him change from a little boy to a young man. He is quite responsible and has many of the same qualities of his father. He is a natural at building things (hence the interest in RC cars and models) and I hope he is able to follow his dreams to use those skills to support himself as he gets older. He loves muscle cars and has very expensive taste (guess he gets that from me) and will need a good job to support his habit for the finer things.
We got him a brand-new RC Car (he has SIX now) for his birthday, and sang 'Happy Birthday' to him last night. He does not eat cake and his favorite dessert is Little Debbie Brownies so we put candles on one of those instead. He was happy :)
